The Bluff City

Todd Ruiz posted this video on his blog, “Under The Dome”, a few months ago.  I brought this video up to a friend this weekend..it’s sort of amusing.  (Note: video does contain some mild profanity toward the end)

OMG (Oh My God) Pasadena!

The Commercial Appeal

I’m so glad I live in Pasadena.  Check out the wackiness going on in some of our neighboring cities (courtesy of the invaluable guys, Centinel & Publius, over at Foothill Cities).

Pondering 2011: Sexygate?

Well, not really…but I did get this awesome e-mail from District 4 City Councilmember, Steve Haderlein, in regard to my YouTube “tribute” to him and his sexiness:

Best video I’ve ever been in.

Very creative, funny, etc.

Steve Haderlein

Glad to see he has a sense of humor.  He’s referring to this:

and this:

Good sport.  Although, he should work on the humor of his Top Ten Lists the next time around. This list should help you, sir.

NewsRap with Andre Coleman, PUSD, and “Macho Man” Randy Savage?

Last night I appeared on “NewsRap” with the Pasadena Weekly’s Andre Coleman.  Andre’s version of the talk show comes on Pasadena 56 (cable access) every Thursday night at 9pm.  He’s a great host and a great guy to talk to about everything going on in Pasadena and Altadena, as well.  It’s also always great to see my main man, Hutch, who works very hard to keep the station running.

A Green Room Fit For A King

We took calls and discussed my appointment to the Human Relations Commission, the run-off elections, and most importantly: the drama from the original drama machines themselves - the PUSD.

If you don’t know what’s been going on with PUSD lately, check out these chestnuts from the Pasadena Star-News:

http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/search/ci_5744458

Damn.  Diaz hasn’t even been superintendent for a cup of coffee and there’s already shenanigans going on.  Nobody spoke with the parents on this entire “Diploma Plus”/charter school issue and the parents are irate.  The sad thing is - the biggest victims here, once again, are the children.  This also leaves quite the mess for when Tom Selinske, Bob Harrison, and Renatta Cooper start their terms oh, I don’t know, next week!

We also received a call from someone who said they were pretty much harassed and insulted by a PEF member.  I don’t know about you, but I’m calling even more shenanigans.  That led Andre and I to wonder just who is really running the school board situation here - the PUSD or the PEF?

I won’t be surprised if Andre looks into this and has a full-blown story for the next issue of the Pasadena Weekly.  I’ll try to keep tabs on this situation as much as I can for you readers out there.

Seriously, though, you should check out Andre’s program if you’re ever around on a Thursday night.  He provides a unique, candid, and somewhat uncensored look at Pasadena.  It was a pleasure to be on his program and I hope to co-host again with him sometime in the future.

Oh - and it seems Andre and I were victims of some prank callers that I’m very, very familiar with.  Earl Ferrell finally makes his way to Southern California, by way of the “Macho Man” Randy Savage:

Hilarious.

I just re-registered with the Democratic Party.  Now, before you quote me on my not too positive thoughts about the Pasadena Dems, hear me out.  I’m re-registering Democratic (whereas I was ‘decline to state’ for years, albeit I’ve been a Dem before) so I can vote in the California Presidential Primary.

Nationally, I’m pretty much in the Democratic Party.  Locally, though, it’s a toss up between just being completely independent, looking into the Pasadena Dems, or maybe answering the call of the Green Party.  I’m pretty sure I’ll know 100% of my decision by the time the now February `08 California Presidential Primaries have come and gone.

We’ll see.

Proctor’s In At City Hall

From this week’s Pasadena Weekly:

After running for office and commenting regularly on his blog about city politics, Aaron Proctor will finally get a crack at public service as a member of the city’s Human Relations Commission.

Paul Little: A Big Story

This coming Monday, April 30th, will be Paul Little’s final City Council meeting as the Councilmember from District 2.  Serving on the Council since 1995, Paul has done a lot of great things for the district in which I reside and I’ll miss watching him “do his thing” at City Council meetings. He even helped bring the much-needed Gold Line to Pasadena.

Paul is a person who cares deeply about Pasadena, knows change is necessary, and is passionate for bringing subjects of importance to the Council’s and the City’s attention.  Paul is a family man with a very lovely and kind wife, Laurie, and two kids - a son (Cameron) and a daughter (Courtney).

Paul’s public service has earned him praise from not just people in Pasadena but all over the area and the State of California.

So - here’s to you Paul Little, one of the best damn councilmembers in the history of Pasadena.

My tribute video:

(P.S. the picture of Stacy Lewis is in there because Paul endorsed him during his campaign)
