238 Reasons…

From AOL News:

(July 31) - Scholars in antiquity began counting the ways that humans have sex, but they weren’t so diligent in cataloging the reasons humans wanted to get into all those positions. Darwin and his successors offered a few explanations of mating strategies — to find better genes, to gain status and resources — but they neglected to produce a Kama Sutra of sexual motivations.

Mo’ Money, No Problems?

This is some pretty good news, courtesy of the Foothill Cities blog via the SGVT:

The SGVT published a partial list of local projects to be funded with federal government cheese.  Some relevant to Pasadena and Monrovia below:

Pasadena:

$100,000 for youth education programs at El Centro de Accion Social in Pasadena.

$100,000 for Outward Bound Adventures’ Gang Intervention program in Pasadena.

$100,000 for Positive Rewards at-risk youth program directed by Rosemary Children’s Services in Pasadena - to employ a full-time employee.

Monrovia:

$500,000 for the Monrovia Transit Village, laying the groundwork for the Gold Line extension to San Dimas.

Basically, Pasadena is getting 200 grand to help curb the rising gang violence problem.

I support this 100%..but too bad we couldn’t have used our own $200,000 to help out with the situation instead of wasting money on a non-problematic strip club.

I guess it’s the federal government to the rescue: at least  this time.

Miss Havisham: Citizen Activist

Isn’t she a doll?

From her guest column at UnderPasadena:

My name is Dianne Patrizzi aka Miss Havisham. I am a property tax paying resident of District 3 in Pasadena, CA. As a member of the artist community, mother of a former Iraq war US Navy Search And Rescue ensign, and observer of local politics and US politics in general, I believe in remaining non-partisan. I am interested in justice, fairness, and what is true, as this is the basis for all of my particular artistic endeavors.

Full column here:

As usual, she brings up a lot of good points.  I’m glad she’s going to more City Council meetings and getting more involved in the community.  We need more people like her.

Still Here For A Little While

Since I’m still in the Lou-Lou for a few weeks, I might as well talk about what’s going on here (although I went from “could care less” about idiot rednecks trying to block the building of Mosques in favor of a Harley Davison dealer to absolutely apathetic about Jackass Mayor Slay and IkeTurnerGate).

At least the bloggers are pretty rockin’.

Oh - this is from the Post-Discrap - but I should bring it up to Pasadenans:  St. Louis has its problems with developers, too:

El Pollo Gordo

In reference to Victor M. Gordo, Esquire’s “serious question” last night, I’ve dug up some more odd statements he’s made at past City Council meetings.

TOP TEN OTHER RANDOM COUNCIL MEETING QUOTES FROM VICTOR GORDO

10. “Hey you in the 3rd row with the Ho Ho’s. You gonna finish that?”

9. “Councilman Tyler, d’you ever hang around the gymnasium?”

8. “My Gordoshake brings all the girls to the yard.”

7. “I make a motion for you to kiss my ass.”

6. “Councilman Holden, d’ya like movies about gladiators?”

5. “How do you spell Councilman? G-O-R-D-O.”

4. “Playin’ with the Queen of Hearts…and knowin’ it ain’t really smart…the joker ain’t the only fool..who’d do anything for you.”

3. “Hurry up, I’m missing Family Guy.”

2. “Councilman Madison, you ever seen a grown man naked?”

1. “Touchdown Pasadena High!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Heritage To The Second Power

From K-Todd In The P-Star:

PASADENA - Simmering emotions were kept mostly in check Monday night as the City Council for the third time discussed the selection of a developer for the Heritage Square redevelopment project in the Northwest, with key players seeking to avoid a tumultuous trifecta.

Council chambers were again packed with Bakewell Company supporters, many from the church community, while an additional police officer was present after two previous discussions of the project erupted into acrimony, outrage and accusations of racism.

Something not mentioned in the article above:  According to Miss Havisham, the highlight of the evening was as follows:

Aaron, if your reading..Victor Gordo’s only question tonight during the Heritage Square meeting was “Does Churches have a drive-thru?”

I instantly wished you were here!

Victor’s talking about the fast food chicken chain on Orange Grove & Fair Oaks, no doubt.  Nice to know his priorities are straight.

Councilman Victor Gordo Loves Chicken

I think Victor’s question for everything must be ”Does it have a drive thru?”  Just look at these notes from a past Council meeting…

Mayor Bogaard: “There’s been a lot of gang related violence over on North Lake, near the KFC.”

Councilman Gordo:  “I know first hand that place has a drive thru.”

Well, at least he’s not talking about his football days any more.

I was actually hoping for more of this but that’s not the Pasadena Way.

UPDATEHis Sexiness missed out on last night’s meeting.  There was an emergency - a huge sale on leopard print speedos, according to “his” blog.

He loves his speedos
